Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said Sri Lanka stands ready to assist Nepal in rescue and clearance operations following the devastating floods.

He said in a message on X that "I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of life following the devastating floods in Nepal.

"As a nation still emerging from a deadly cyclone just 10 months ago, we share the grief of the Nepalese people. Sri Lanka joins me in expressing its deepest condolences to the President, Prime Minister and the people of Nepal," the President said.
