Sri Lanka golfers face uphill task
SriLanka, Oct. 1 -- Sri Lanka's three golfers endured a difficult opening round at the Asian Games at the Kasugai Country Club on Japan's east coast, with all three facing an uphill task heading into today's second round.
Taipei's W. Wang and Japan's K. Higa shared the lead after carding impressive five under-par 65s, setting the early pace among the 65 golfers who teed off on day one.
For Sri Lanka, Nadaraja Thangaraja was the leading performer, returning a three-over-par 73 to finish the opening day. Mithun Perera was a further stroke behind on 74, four over par while young Kumar Danushan struggled to find his rhythm and finished on 80, ten over par.
