Sri Lanka braces for severe heat in July-August
Sri Lanka, June 3 -- Sri Lanka is expected to experience significantly hotter-than-normal weather conditions during July and August this year as the developing El Nino phenomenon begins to influence the global climate, the Department of Meteorology warned.
Speaking to Daily Mirror, acting Director General of Meteorology Ajith Wijemannage said Sri Lanka is currently experiencing the Southwest Monsoon season, but the impacts of El Nino are expected to become more pronounced in the coming weeks.
