Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- Sri Lanka's Hambantota International Port has become an important transit point for luxury vehicles including Lamborghinis as the Middle East conflict continues to disrupt shipping routes around the Strait of Hormuz.

A senior official from the Sri Lanka Customs told the Daily Mirror that vehicles from countries such as Japan, South Korea and Italy are being routed through Sri Lanka before being sent to destinations in the Middle East, due to the ongoing global tensions and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz which was a vital shipping lane for luxury vehicles to be shipped to countries such as Dubai, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern ports.
