Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka has urged President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to intervene urgently over policy concerns affecting the country's rooftop solar energy sector, warning that the changes could undermine energy security and economic recovery.

In a letter titled "The Threat to Sri Lanka's Rooftop Solar Energy Sector," the Chamber said Sri Lanka could face an electricity shortfall of up to 450 MWh by the first half of 2027, citing forecasts and statements by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka and the National System Operator.
