Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- Shiranthi Rajapaksa, wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who left the country yesterday morning, is presently in Singapore undergoing a medical check-up at the elite Mount Elizabeth Hospital, sources told the Daily Mirror last evening.

Shiranthi left the island early yesterday, sparking controversy as she faces a summons to appear before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on September 24 over alleged financial irregularities linked to the Siriliya Saviya Foundation.

While in Colombo last week, the former First Lady had reportedly been admitted to a private hospital and travelled to the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday directly after being discharged.
