Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- The Supreme Court today declared that former IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon and two other police officers had violated the fundamental rights of retired Senior DIG and former CID Director Ravi Seneviratne and former CID Director Shani Abeysekara by initiating investigations against them in connection with the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.

The Supreme Court delivered the judgment pursuant to a Fundamental Rights petition filed by Ravi Seneviratne and Shani Abeysekara, alleging that a CID investigation into their alleged involvement in the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks was politically motivated and based on false allegations.
