Sri Lanka, April 16 -- The Department of Meteorology issued an advisory for severe lightning for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva Provinces and the Galle, Matara and Kurunegala districts after 1.00 p.m today.

The Department said thundershowers accompanied with severe lightning are likely to occur at some places in these areas after 1.00 p.m.

It said there may be temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by lightning activities.
