Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- The Department of Meteorology issued an advisory for severe lightning for North-central, North-western, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces and in Ampara, Batticaloa, Vavuniya and Mannar districts.

The Department said thundershowers likely to occur at several places in these area.

It said there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

General public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
