Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- The Cabinet has approved the declaration of September 25 to October 1, 2026 as 'National Children's Day Week - 2026' to raise public awareness of children's rights and strengthen community participation in child protection.

Children's Day is celebrated annually in Sri Lanka on October 1, with the aim of promoting awareness of children's rights, education, health and well-being.

The Government has observed that the challenges faced by children have expanded beyond traditional child protection concerns, with children increasingly exposed to risks associated with the Internet and digital technology, psychological and social pressures, neglect and various social and economic challenges.
