Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- Amid growing tensions reported at several prisons across the country, security measures at the Jaffna Prison have been intensified.

Accordingly, the Commander, Security Forcess - Jaffna Major General KJNMPK Navarathna conducted a field visit to the Jaffna Prison, while a number of military personnel have also been deployed for security duties.

On the police side, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for the Jaffna District, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for the district, and OIC's from several police stations in the Jaffna District have been summoned to the prison, where discussions are being held inside the prison.
