Sri Lanka, Aug. 26 -- The Meteorological Department has warned of a possibility of sea wave heights of around 2.0 to 3.0 metres in the sea areas extending from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle, Matara and Hambantota.

Authorities clarified that this refers to the wave height at sea and not the height of waves reaching the shore.

There is also a possibility of sea waves reaching land in coastal areas from Beruwala through Galle to Matara.

Fishing and maritime communities in the affected sea areas, as well as people living along the coast, have been urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
