Sri Lanka, March 17 -- All government and government-approved private schools will operate only four days a week until further notice due to the ongoing global fuel crisis, the Education authorities have informed school principals.

In a circular issued to principals, officials stated that the decision was taken to manage energy consumption while ensuring the continuation of administrative and academic activities in schools. Accordingly, all Wednesdays will be treated as school holidays until further notice.

Principals have been instructed to provide students with assignments, exercises, and revision work so that they can engage in self-learning activities on Wednesdays.
