Sri Lanka, Oct. 13 -- Opposition Leader and Leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Sajith Premadasa has rejected the resignation of former MP Ashok Abeysinghe from the party.

Former MP Abeysinghe told the Daily Mirror that he has been informed by the party leader that he had rejected the resignation.

"However, I hold the stand that the party cannot be successful at an election if it goes alone. The SJB will have to join with the UNP and even with the SLPP," he said.

The former MP resigned from the organiser's post, as president of the Samagi Sewaka Sangamaya and as Coordination Secretary to the Opposition Leader on Monday.
