Sri Lanka, April 14 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has called for meaningful empowerment of the people through sustainable, long-term solutions in his message marking the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

In his New Year message, Premadasa said the dawn of a New Year presents an opportunity to move forward by learning from past shortcomings.

He said that people across the country have faced numerous challenges over the past year, particularly under significant economic strain.

He further pointed out that many individuals from all segments of society continue to struggle, often at the expense of their mental well-being.
