Rs. 1.58B state land fraud: Ex-Commissioner arrested
Sri Lanka, Sept. 29 -- The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has arrested a former Commissioner (Investigations) of the Department of Land Title Settlement over alleged corruption involving state-owned land valued at approximately Rs. 1.586 billion.
The suspect, Nishantha Mohan Wickramasinghe, was arrested this morning (29) in connection with allegations that he abused his official position to facilitate the unlawful transfer of state property.
According to CIABOC, Wickramasinghe allegedly used official departmental letterheads to prepare and issue an unauthorized investigative report under an irregular investigation number. The report allegedly identified a 1.0982-hectare plot of state-owned land ...
