Sri Lanka, Aug. 11 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued an "Amber" advisory for strong winds and rough seas in several sea areas around Sri Lanka.

The advisory covers the sea areas extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Chilaw to Mannar via Puttalam.

According to the Meteorology Department, these sea areas will be rough at times, with strong gusty winds reaching 50-60 kmph.

The Department has urged naval and fishing communities engaged in activities in the affected sea areas to remain vigilant and exercise caution.
