Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- The National System Operator (Pvt) Ltd has requested the temporary deactivation of rooftop solar power systems with a capacity exceeding 300 kilowatts due to lower electricity demand during the holiday period.

According to a notice issued by the National System Operator, the affected rooftop solar systems have been requested to suspend power generation daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., from August 27 until Sunday.

The temporary measure has been introduced as electricity demand is expected to remain low during the holiday period, with the move aimed at maintaining the stability of the national power system.
