Sri Lanka, June 8 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a Red Warning for strong winds and rough seas, urging naval and fishing communities to take immediate precautions as hazardous sea conditions are expected to persist until 10.30 a.m. on June 9.

According to the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre, the sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar will be very rough at times, accompanied by strong gusty winds reaching 60-70 kmph.

As a result, fishing and naval communities have been strongly advised not to venture into these sea areas until further notice.
