Sri Lanka, July 30 -- Veteran lyricist Rathna Sri Wijesinghe has resigned from his position as Chairman of the National Library and Documentation Services Board.

Wijesinghe, a highly respected figure in Sri Lankan literature and music, said the decision to resign was based solely on personal reasons, particularly due to age, and not because of any loss of confidence in the President or the government.

The resignation will take effect from August 11.
