Sri Lanka, June 12 -- Showers or thundershowers are expected at a few places in the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 1.00 p.m. today (12), the Meteorology Department said.

In its weather forecast issued at 5.30 a.m., the department said showers and thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts. Fairly heavy rainfall above 75 mm is likely at some locations in these areas.

Several spells of showers are also expected in the Hambantota and Anuradhapura districts.
