Railway Unions raise concerns over lack of special trains during school holidays
Sri Lanka, Aug. 26 -- For the first time in history, no special trains have been scheduled during the current school holidays, while no discussions have been held on the work that needs to be carried out during the holiday period, the railway unions said.
They alleged that the administration of the Railway Department has been allowed to fall into disarray, creating difficulties for both railway staff and passengers.
Station masters, who are directly responsible for dealing with the public, have been subjected to severe criticism and verbal abuse as a result of administrative shortcomings, they further claimed.
