Sri Lanka, July 31 -- The Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court has imposed a fine of Rs. 500,000 on railway catering service provider for selling bottled drinking water above the government-approved Maximum Retail Price (MRP) on a train operating between Kankesanthurai and Colombo.

The case was filed by investigation officers of the Anuradhapura District Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) under Direction No. 96 of the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, which prohibits the sale of goods above the stipulated MRP.
