Sri Lanka, March 16 -- The Government is planning to introduce a special QR code system for individuals and institutions engaged in the tourism industry, Deputy Tourism Minister Ruwan Ranasinghe said.
Under the proposed initiative, all tourism service providers will be required to register with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), enabling authorities to verify registered operators and ensure better standards in the sector.
Prof. Ranasinghe said the QR code system will help identify officially registered tourism operators and ensure that tourists visiting the country receive proper services and facilities without inconvenience.
