Public Health Inspectors withdraw from dengue control duties island-wide
Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- The Public Health Inspectors' (PHI) Union of Sri Lanka has decided to withdraw from all dengue control duties across the country, effective today (20).
The trade union action is being launched in strong protest against the arbitrary transfer of the senior-most Medical Officer of Health (MOH) at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport Health Office.
Speaking to the media, the General Secretary of the PHI Union, Chamil Muthukuda, said that this decision was formally reached during an emergency meeting of the union's executive committee held last night (19).
