Srilanka, July 12 -- A project to develop three sports grounds in the Mullaitivu District to national standards was launched today with the laying of foundation stones under the patronage of Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage and Vanni District MP Dr. Sellaththamby Thilakanathan.

The project aims to upgrade the selected grounds with running tracks, athletics facilities and other modern infrastructure to improve sports opportunities for young athletes in the district.

Addressing the event, Minister Gamage said the government is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for youth across the country, adding that sports infrastructure should be developed in all districts, regardless of geography.
