Sri Lanka, May 28 -- A series of programmes have been organised across prison institutions islandwide to mark the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day, which falls on May 30, 2026.
The programme includes devotional song concerts, Vesak decorations, religious observances and Vesak Dansals aimed at commemorating the religious significance of the day within correctional facilities.
In addition, a Vesak lantern exhibition, prepared jointly by prison officers and inmates, is scheduled to be displayed in front of the Prison Headquarters on the nights of May 30 and 31.
Meanwhile, a 'Belimal Dansala' organised by the Prison Headquarters in conjunction with the Prisons Vesak Zone will be held in front of the Prison Headquarters on May 30, 2026 at 7:00 pm....
