President's Secretary calls for urgent relief from PAYE Tax burden
Sri Lanka, Sept. 3 -- Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake has called for immediate measures to ease the heavy Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) tax burden on the general public, stressing that the current situation requires swift corrective action.
Speaking at the 21st Annual General Conference of the Association of Inland Revenue Commissioners in Colombo, Dr. Kumanayake emphasized the need to address the tax pressure faced by the public without delay.
He also highlighted the importance of developing Sri Lanka's Inland Revenue Department to a level comparable with those of developed countries, with a focus on strengthening its efficiency and effectiveness.
