Sri Lanka, July 11 -- The President's Fund has granted a monthly scholarship of Rs. 25,000 to support the medical treatment of a student injured in a laboratory accident at Dharmasoka College, Bandarawela, and the education of her siblings.

The student sustained severe burn injuries on March 23 while conducting a starch test in the school's laboratory after chemicals used during the experiment reportedly boiled over and caught fire.

Following the accident, she was admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo, where she underwent specialised treatment for more than a month. Although her condition has improved, she continues to receive ongoing medical care.
