Sri Lanka, July 13 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has expressed his condolences over the passing of Qatar's Father Emir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

In a message posted on X, the President said he was "deeply saddened" by the death of the former Qatari leader, describing him as a visionary whose leadership and service to Qatar would be remembered.

"His visionary leadership and service to Qatar will be remembered," President Dissanayake said.

On behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka, the President extended his heartfelt condolences to Qatar's Emir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Royal Family, and the people of Qatar.

"May his soul rest in peace," the President added.
