Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- The poor condition of the engine caused the breakdown of the Colombo-Kankesanthurai (KKS) train yesterday (20), Deputy Minister of Transport Prasanna Gunasena told Parliament.

Responding to an oral question raised by MP Kavinda Jayawardena, Dr. Gunasena said most of the engines currently in service were in poor condition.

"Our intention is to repair both the engines and the carriages," he said.
