Sri Lanka, July 13 -- A Police Sergeant arrested by Dambagalla Police on suspicion of rape of his elder daughter was produced before Siyambalanduwa Magistrate and remanded till July 15.

He has been interdicted with immediate effect by Monaragala ASP B.U.P. Maniyangama.

The suspect is a resident of Mariarawa in Dambagalla and father of three children. Investigations revealed that he had raped her first in 2022.

However, when she fell in love with a young man, the suspect who strongly protested against it had assaulted her, and admitted her to hospital for treatment. When she told the doctor that she had been raped by her father, it led to investigations by Dambagalla Police.
