Police launch probe into attacks on Metro buses
Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- Sri Lanka Police have launched an investigation into a series of alleged deliberate attacks and acts of vandalism targeting the newly introduced Metro bus service.
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Traffic and Road Safety Range, W. P. J. Senadheera, investigators suspect that the incidents may be part of a coordinated effort to disrupt public transportation services and damage state property.
The Metro bus service was expanded by the government to ease traffic congestion in and around Colombo while providing commuters with a comfortable, reliable and convenient travel option.
