Srilanka, Aug. 1 -- .A police curfew has been imposed with immediate effect until further notice across three Grama Niladhari divisions surrounding the Mahara Prison within the Ragama Police division to maintain peace and order. The affected areas include 246/Kendaliyaddapaluwa - West, 246/C Kendaliyaddapaluwa - North, and 181/G Dambuwa.

The decision follows a clash that broke out among inmates inside the Mahara Prison premises this afternoon. Seven injured prisoners were subsequently rushed to the Ragama Hospital, where one inmate succumbed to his injuries. The remaining six individuals are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
