Police clearance service hit by system outage
Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- The Sri Lanka Police has temporarily suspended the submission of applications for police clearance certificates due to a technical issue affecting its computerized data system.
The Police Clearance Division, located on the 17th floor of the Suhurupaya Building in Battaramulla, uses the computerized system to process applications, obtain relevant reports, and print police clearance certificates.
According to the Police, the system has been inactive since 12:50 p.m. on August 20, 2026. The Sri Lanka Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) has been informed of the issue, and necessary measures are currently being taken to restore the system.
