Over 30 public officials arrested over bribery charges during first four months
Sri Lanka, June 11 -- A total of 32 state officials and public servants have been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) during the first four months of 2026.
The arrests, carried out between January and April, involved officials from several sectors of the public service, including education, law enforcement, the judiciary, local government and environmental agencies.
Among those arrested this year were a Zonal Education Director, a Quazi Judge, four police officers, including a Sub-Inspector and a Sergeant, five Forest Department officials and several local government officers.
