Sri Lanka, June 8 -- A protest organised by several opposition political parties is currently underway near the Fort Railway Station in Colombo, condemning what participants describe as the inhumane and unjust treatment of former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director, Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay.

A large number of representatives from opposition parties and supporters have gathered at the site, calling for fair treatment and due process in relation to Sallay's detention.

Sallay was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on February 25 over allegations linked to the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings. He remains in CID custody under a court order while investigations continue.
