One in four Sri Lankans expected to be over 60 by 2041: Minister
Sri Lanka, Oct. 6 -- One in four Sri Lankans is expected to be over the age of 60 by 2041, based on projections by experts, Minister of Social Security Upali Panilage told Parliament today.
The Minister said the government had already identified the challenges posed by the country's ageing population and was taking steps to address the situation.
He said the government plans to introduce social security measures to meet the needs of the growing elderly population in the coming years.
