Sri Lanka, April 17 -- A person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a car travelling from Balangoda to Kandy via Bagawanthalawa veered off the road and plunged into a 300-foot precipice near Keselgamu Oya on Friday (17), police said.

The accident occurred around 8.30 a.m. in the Tinsing Kambipanaseka area along the Hatton-Bagawanthalawa main road, according to Bagawanthalawa Police OIC, Inspector Nuwan Madusankha.

Four people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. One passenger died on the spot, while two women who were seriously injured were admitted to the Dikoya Base Hospital for treatment.
