SriLanka, April 4 -- The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced plans to further shorten the duration of scheduled water cuts in several areas across Colombo.
NWSDB Chairman Engineer Chandana Bandara said efforts are being made to bring down water supply interruptions to between eight and 12 hours, depending on prevailing conditions.
The decision comes as dry weather continues to affect water supply. Previously, the NWSDB imposed water cuts once every three days in areas such as Padukka, Homagama, Palanwatta, and Pannipitiya.
In a move to ease public inconvenience, the Board yesterday (April 3) reduced the duration of water cuts from 24 hours to 18 hours, with further reductions now under consideration.
