Srilanka, Sept. 12 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said there would be no compromise or leniency towards organised criminal networks and the illegal drug trade, stressing that the government was committed to eradicating the underworld and drug operations from the country.

Addressing the "People's Rule - Two Years Strong - Progress for All'. farmers' rally in Polonnaruwa, the President said the National People's Power (NPP) Government had taken responsibility for eliminating organised crime and drug networks.

He said the Government had no personal vendetta or desire for revenge against anyone, but was determined to ensure that those responsible for corrupting and damaging the country were held accountable.
