Sri Lanka, May 19 -- There is no reason to increase the prices of vehicles imported before May 16 as the 50 percent surcharge is not applicable to vehicles imported before May 16, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath said today.

He told the weekly briefing to announce Cabinet decisions that if importers artificially increase prices of vehicles, it is wrong to do so.

Responding to a question whether the government will take action against importers who increase vehicle prices unreasonably, the Minister said the government will educate people on the matter and refrain from purchasing vehicles at unreasonably increased prices.
