No increase in MPs' basic salaries, Cabinet Spokesman says
Sri Lanka, Aug. 12 -- Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa yesterday (11) denied claims that the basic salaries of Members of Parliament have been increased, saying there has been no revision to MPs' basic pay.
Speaking at the Cabinet press briefing, Jayatissa said the increase that has been reported relates to the fuel allowance, which is calculated according to the applicable formula.
He said the increase in the fuel allowance was not limited to MPs and was applicable to government employees based on the relevant calculations.
