SriLanka, Sept. 11 -- The Government is not expecting to seek an increase in electricity tariffs for the next quarter, Minister of Energy Anura Karunathilaka told Parliament.

He said the cost of electricity generation had recently declined due to increased hydroelectric power generation following sufficient rainfall.

The Minister said the improved water levels in reservoirs had helped reduce generation costs and manage electricity supply more efficiently. Accordingly, the Ministry does not expect to request an electricity tariff increase for the next quarter, he said.
