Sri Lanka, Sept. 22 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the publication of a new Sri Lanka Cricket Bill aimed at reorganizing and strengthening the administration of cricket in the country.

The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting held on June 8, 2026. Under the proposed legislation, Sri Lanka Cricket will be authorized to govern, control, regulate, promote, develop and administer the sport of cricket in Sri Lanka.

The Bill has been prepared by the Legal Draftsman to establish the legal framework governing the structure, powers and functions of Sri Lanka Cricket. It seeks to promote the sport based on principles of good governance, integrity, transparency and accountability.
