Navy seizes Indian trawler, arrests nine fishermen
SriLanka, Oct. 4 -- The Sri Lanka Navy seized an Indian fishing trawler and apprehended nine Indian fishermen who were allegedly engaged in illegal fishing after crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) into Sri Lankan waters south of Delft yesterday evening (03).
The Navy said a large number of Indian fishing trawlers had trespassed into Sri Lankan waters south of Delft while engaging in illegal fishing.
During the operation, SLNS *Samudura* intercepted and seized one Indian fishing trawler and apprehended the nine fishermen on board.
The apprehended fishermen and the seized trawler were taken to Kankesanthurai (KKS) Harbour and will be handed over to the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DFAR) for onward ...
