Sri Lanka, Sept. 9 -- Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath who briefed the Cabinet weekly briefing today rejected former MP Udaya Gammanpila's comparison of the alleged payment received by SLPP National Organiser and MP Namal Rajapaksa as giving money to a beggar.

Minister Herath said accepting a large sum of money in connection with a political matter could not be compared to giving money to a beggar.

"If that is the case, then Namal Rajapaksa must be a beggar," Herath said, adding that such a comparison would not be accepted by the people.

He said there was a clear difference between giving money to a beggar and giving money to a politician.
