Sri Lanka, June 29 -- A 45-year-old woman drowned while her 10-year-old daughter remains missing after the two reportedly fell into a cultivation well near the Thubara Tank in Tennakonpura, within the Galewela Police Division.

According to police, the incident occurred on the night of June 28. The victims are residents of Thalakiriyagama.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman's son had gone to the Thubara Tank to catch fish. When he failed to return home, the mother, accompanied by her daughter, went out in search of him. During the search, they are believed to have accidentally fallen into an excavated cultivation well near the tank.
