Sri Lanka, Oct. 26 -- A minor flood situation is possible in low-lying areas adjacent to the Mahaweli River in the Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretariat Division following heavy rainfall in the river's upper catchment areas over the past few hours, the Irrigation Department said.

The public residing in the affected areas and motorists using roads in the vicinity have been urged to exercise extreme caution.

Residents living close to the Mahaweli River have also been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety in the event of flooding.

Disaster Management authorities have been requested to take appropriate precautionary measures in response to the potential flood threat.
