Sri Lanka, July 30 -- There is no need for water cuts at present as the Labugama and Kalatuwawa reservoirs hold enough water to meet demand for the next three months, Housing, Construction and Water Supply Minister Susil Ranasinghe said.

The Minister said that although weather forecasts indicate below-average rainfall in August and September due to the El Nino phenomenon, assessments carried out by experts of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) have confirmed that existing water storage levels are adequate to maintain a continuous water supply.

However, the Minister cautioned that the situation could change depending on future weather conditions and rainfall patterns.
